1 Insanely Beautiful Spot in Malibu You Cannot Skip
This post is all about Malibu.
Welcome to my absolute favorite place in Malibu! Point Dume is the perfect escape from the city and the crowds. Although sunset does get a little busier, there are so many things to see that you usually don’t run into too many people. A heads up! This is a lot of uphill walking on sandy paths as well as jutting rock on narrow cliff paths, so be sure to wear proper shoes.
Malibu – Point Dume
Sea lions, surfers, birds, and stunning views of the coastline, the ocean, and some awesome millionaire beach homes.
You could definitely call this my existential spot because you’ll stop to take a picture and find yourself just staring at the horizon wondering how in the world did you wind up here on a Thursday afternoon. It’s a perfect place for introspection and to just listen to the waves crashing against the cliffside with no other distractions.
More Perks!
Right below Point Dume, is my favorite Malibu beach! I’ve been here a couple times now and have never seen it as crowded as Venice or Santa Monica. There’s also free parking!! Yes, I know—absolutely unheard of in LA. You can walk right from Point Dume down to the beach and vise versa, but again, be warned. That is a literal uphill battle.
Parking
Speaking of parking—good luck! Where the main trail starts, there are about ten parking spaces, and I’ve only been lucky enough once to get one. And don’t try to park on the side of the road because there is a nice little ranger who is just waiting to hand out tickets. Your best bet is to park along the street further down the hill and walk up. You’ll see plenty of cars parked on the main road to get up there or even on the side streets. Unlike at the top of the hill, I’ve never seen nor heard of anyone having any problems parking here. Or if you’re visiting the beach, you can always park there and walk up the cliffside on that path mentioned before.
